Throughout the year, Drexel Human Resources works with the University to offer a variety of special awards, programs, and other events aimed at recognizing our employees and giving back to the community. These programs and events include:
Through the Dragon Drive, our annual charity drive, Drexel employees can support a range of local non-profit organizations with a tax-deductible donation that can be automatically deducted from their paychecks. To add to the spirit of the Dragon Drive, local vendors donate prizes that are raffled off to employees who sign up to give during the drive. For more information, visit the Dragon Drive page.
The Employee Appreciation Fest takes place each year in the beginning of September. Employees are treated to food, fun, games, and prizes. Visit the Employee Appreciation Fest page for more information.
The Home Purchase Assistance Program was established to encourage and support home ownership within defined borders of the Drexel University main campus community (Drexel). The program offers a forgivable loan to benefit eligible full- and part-time Drexel University, including Drexel University College of Medicine faculty and professional staff toward the purchase or renovation of homes within defined borders. For more information, see the Home Purchase Assistance Program page.
The awareness of black history is raised during February by lectures and workshops given by experts on black history through universities, as well as by exhibits and programs given in public schools. Black history is also celebrated in the community by concerts, plays, and poetry readings that focus on Africans, African-Americans and African descendants. Each day in February, HR posts crossword puzzle clues for faculty and professional staff members to complete a crossword puzzle. Drexel faculty and professional staff are encouraged to play, compete, and win prizes. At the end of the month, HR hosts a closing luncheon. For more information, see the HR Honors Black History Month page.
Inspire a Child to Dream Day (Take Your Daughter/Son to Work Day) is held annually at Drexel University on the University City Main Campus. The event coincides each year with National Take Your Daughter/Son to Work Day in April. For more information, visit the Inspire a Child to Dream Day page, or contact Althea Wallace at alw322@drexel.edu.
