This seminar, given in partnership with Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union and Gawthrop and Greenwood, will provide participants with a basic understanding of estate planning. Topics covered will include how to get started on planning for death and incapacity, what constitutes your probate and non-probate estate, why you might consider executing a will, durable power of attorney, health care power of attorney, living will, and/or revocable trust, and how your estate planning may change over time.

By the end of the seminar participants will be familiar with:

  • The terminology and default rules associated with inheritance
  • Why you need a will
  • Some general concepts governing wills and trusts
  • Identifying probate and non-probate assets
  • Advance directives, including living wills, health care powers of attorney, and financial powers of attorney
