WORK RELATED INJURIES AND ILLNESSES

Our office also provides support for employee work related injuries and illnesses. Anyone sustaining or witnessing a life-threatening injury or illness must call 911 for immediate medical care. Employees with non-life-threatening injuries or illness must contact their supervisor and seek medical attention at one of the approved service provider locations and/or the nearest emergency room.

 

All post injury or post exposure examinations are performed by or under the direct supervision of one of the licensed panel physicians. For employees this is conducted without cost to the employee, without loss of pay, and at a reasonable time and place. 

 

In addition to notifying EHRS and seeking medical care, injured or exposed employees must complete and send an injury report form to the Office of Risk Management within 24 hours of the work-related injury or illness. All related medical records will be kept for at least as long as the employees affected are employed. OSHA requires some records to be kept for 30 years beyond the employee's time of employment. OSHA’s laboratory standard requires that all records be maintained of all exposure evaluations, medical consultations, and reports and that those records be maintained in accordance to 29 CFR 1910.1020.
