  • Student Ambassadors for Philadelphia Bar Association’s Law School Public Interest Professionals Committee

We are seeking Student Ambassadors who will be in the Philadelphia area this summer, to help moderate the programs. If you participate, you can choose to assist with one discussion (or up to three). It would involve working with a law school representative to develop questions and serve as co-moderator on the day of the panel. If you are interested, please complete this online survey, with your preferences and availability, by May 10, 2024. Dear 1L and 2L Students,

Every summer, the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Law School Public Interest Professionals Committee hosts weekly brown bag lunchtime programs, where practitioners discuss different aspects of public interest practice. The programs will be held every Thursday during the lunch hour, beginning on May 30 and continuing through August 1 (except for July 4), at the Bar Association offices at 11th and Market Streets in Philadelphia. The program will kick off with attorneys from different organizations discussing opportunities for collaboration within the Philadelphia public interest community. Other discussions will focus on different types of practice (e.g. direct service/community lawyering, criminal law, immigration, and policy/impact litigation), how to afford to practice public interest law, and more.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students leaning towards public interest practice to learn more about the work and to start building a professional network. Whether or not you participate as a moderator, the Philadelphia area public interest employers always encourage their interns to attend the programs.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about participating.
