Courtney graduated from the Catholic University of America in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work. She went on to Temple University where she earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work. After graduation in 1994, she worked for 10 years at MossRehab, both as a clinical social worker in the traumatic brain injury unit, as well as a clinical liaison. In 2012, Courtney graduated from the Hahnemann/Drexel University Physician Assistant Program. She worked as a primary care physician assistant for eight years.

Courtney is a Board member and volunteer for Doctors of the Americas and has been on several medical trips to El Salvador. She is also involved in the Philadelphia Organization, Health News Works, whose mission is to encourages and engage elementary and middle school students to become researchers, writers, critical thinkers and confident communicators.

Courtney’s guiding principal is servant leadership. She is also an advocate of developmental theorist and humanist psychologist, Dr. Abraham Maslow.

On a personal note, Courtney lives in Philadelphia with her husband Chuck and their three children. She is an avid Bruce Springsteen fan and has seen The Boss perform live many times!
