About The School of Education
The School of Education at Drexel University traces its roots back to the early days of when Drexel was known as the Drexel Institute and offered teacher training as part of its curriculum for women.
We’ve come a long way since then.
Today, The School of Education is more than 1,100 students strong. The curriculum goes well beyond teacher training, offering bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees and a wide variety of certificate, certification and professional development programs to meet the needs of educators at all levels and in all situations – from the classroom to the boardroom.
The School is also home to renowned institutes, centers and resources that serve the region and the nation, including

The School of Education has benefited from Drexel University’s position as one of the premier technology universities as the University consistently ranks as one of the most technologically advanced in the nation. Drexel University was the first in the United States to require all incoming freshmen to have access to a personal computer. It is ranked as one of the nation’s “Most Unwired College Campuses,” and is a national leader in online learning.
Drexel is also among the nation’s leaders in cooperative education. In addition to participating in student teaching, Drexel School of Education undergraduate students complete a professional work experience, (co-op), in their chosen area of certification, which gives them direct experience both in an out of the classroom before they graduate. Many of the School's graduate programs also have co-op or internship experiences built into program requirements to ensure that they have real-world experiences in the area(s) being studies.
Graduates of the Drexel University School of Education are known for their creativity, technological savvy, preparedness and leadership skills. The School of Education faculty are carefully chosen for their expertise in developing these traits and skills in students, and are an important aspect of the School’s mission and outcomes.
