Lead Engineer, SpaceX Payload Accommodations

Seth Kovnat

After graduating from Drexel, Seth entered the aerospace industry. Since then, he has led several new development aircraft and spacecraft programs. Projects include Piasecki Aircraft Corporation’s ARES VTOL modular air vehicle, SpaceX’s first human-rated reusable Dragon Heat Shield, and a multitude of novel payload accommodations hardware that has significantly reduced the barrier to entry into the Space Industry. Accounting for NASA, Starlink, Rideshare, and other customer missions, Seth has contributed to more than half the world’s payloads in orbit.

“Drexel is one of the more pragmatic schools in the country and in a unique position to become a world leader in engineering development. My hope is to bring SpaceX mentality to the university and give more students access to exactly what it takes to start a career in high tech engineering development.”
