Love Movies? Take a Minor

October 7, 2015

Students from across the University can now take courses that will have them thinking about movies in entirely new ways. The study of film is also the study of history, cultures, society and its values, and advances and changes in technology and storytelling. The new Film Studies minor provides an overarching view of cinema’s historical influences and artistic and institutional developments, from its late 19th-century origins to the present, including major genres that have shaped the medium since its inception. The 24-credit minor offers courses that include Contemporary Cinema, Film Comedy, the Horror Film, Hitchcock, the Western, Documentary Tradition, French New Wave, and Italian Neo Realism.
