Equipment

Cameras

Drexel Film & Television majors have access to a wide array of camera equipment that is constantly being updated. Film & Television students begin learning the art of cinematography with the Canon 5D Mark IV DSLR during their first term and gain access to numerous other cameras as they progress through their journey at Drexel. All cameras come stocked with equipment needed to shoot, such as batteries, lenses, and recording media, so students can easily sign out the gear and shoot their projects.

Drexel also houses industry standard support gear such as the Steadicam Zephyr, Chapman Super PeeWee II dolly, and EZJib 16-foot robotic jib, letting students' cinematic stories soar without inhibition.

Grip & Electric

Drexel Film & Television majors have access to a wide array of grip and electric tools that give them the ability to use light and shadow to express their vision. Students begin rigging lights during their first term at Drexel and hone their craft with an intermediate lighting class during their sophomore year.

Production Audio

Sound is half the picture, so Drexel Film & Television is home to a large collection of audio equipment for student use. During their freshman year, students take an audio field production course to learn the applications of various microphone types and recording techniques.

Drexel Film & Television stocks numerous audio accessories, such as IFB, boompoles, cables, and mixers, so that students can become familiar industry-standard gear that they will use for the rest of their careers.

Post Production

Drexel Film & Television majors have access to bleeding edge post-production equipment so they can share their stories with the world. Students learn how to edit using Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro starting their first year at Drexel.

First year students also learn the art of sound design and how to mix audio using Audition and Pro Tools.

Those interested in color grading can take our color grading course, which covers everything from color theory to stereoscopic 3D grading.

Students that wish to continue to grow in these disciplines may do so through the many courses, opportunities, and resources available to them during their time at Drexel.

Drexel Film & Television has Mac based labs and mixing/editing suites with fully loaded workstations. Each machine contains the entire Adobe Creative Suite, Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, Pro Tools and other utilities for use in post production. Drexel is also home to multiple color grading suites, complete with Flanders Scientific monitors, Tangent Wave Control Surfaces, and the full version of DaVinci Resolve.
