Tia James holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Design & Merchandising and a Master’s Degree in Arts Administration from Drexel University. While attending Drexel University she had the great experience of being an assistant buyer at Burlington Coat Factory corporate offices during her co-op experience. This phenomenal experience enhanced her understanding of trends, consumer behavior, product development, and marketing. This co-op opportunity led her pursue a career in retail buying in planning upon graduation. She worked in the corporate side of retail for 3.5 years as a buyer and associate planner for a national menswear company before returning to her Alma mater.
Currently at Drexel University she serves as a recruiter for the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design. Her role includes marketing and promoting the college and its programs to eager high school students interested in careers in creative disciplines. Additionally she serves as the college’s summer program coordinator for high schoolers as well as the college’s Learning Community Advisor for freshmen residing in the Learning Community Residence Hall. She also instructs a freshman University 101 class in Entertainment and Arts Management. Working to help others reach their educational and career objectives is her passion.
