How often can I visit the Writing Center?
You can go once (one half-hour tutorial) per day, but there is no limit on how many days you may make appointments.

How long is a tutorial?
30 minutes 

Is there a cost?  
Tutorials are free to members of the Drexel community.

Do I have to make an appointment?
Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are also welcome (space permitting).

How do I make an appointment?
Sign up at 032 MacAlister;  phone (215) 895-6633.

Will my instructor know that I visited?
We will send a report to your instructor if you request it. The report will say only that you were at the Writing Center; it will not give specific details on what you discussed.

What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring the assignment (topic) and what you've written so far (even if it’s only a few sentences).

What will happen at my appointment?
A tutor will ask you to read what you have so far. Then, the two of you will discuss your paper. He/she will ask questions, and you can also ask questions.

Who are the Writing Center tutors?
Faculty who teach in the Freshman Humanities Program, and peer tutors.

Will the tutors proofread or correct my paper for me?
No.  Tutors will discuss your work with you and help you revise your paper, but they will not simply check your paper over for errors.

Can the tutors help me with a specific grammar problem?
Yes. If you have trouble with a certain area of grammar (e.g., run-on sentences), tutors can help you.

Will the tutors estimate the grade my paper should receive?
No.  Grade evaluation is left to your instructor.

What if I can’t get an appointment?
Consider using e-writer.  See the e-writer page.

What is e-writer?
e-writer is Drexel’s e-mail tutoring service. You send your paper to the Writing Center via a Web-based form. A tutor reads the paper, makes comments on it in capital letters (so you can find the comments), and returns the paper to you within two working days.

What kinds of responses can I get from e-writer?
Tutors will send your paper back by e-mail wih comments based on specific questions you ask when you send your paper. The responses will be in capital letters so that you can find them.

How do I send a paper to e-writer?
Click here to access the e-writer submission form. Fill out the form, paste the text of your paper in the specified field, and click Submit.

Can I just send my paper as an attachment?
No.  The Writing Center staff may not have the correct software to read your paper. You must paste your text into the e-writer submission form. If you send an attachment, the Writing Center staff will return the paper to you without reading it.
