This production of Kiss Me Kate will be presented as a concert reading, actors will carry scripts, with some dance and a 20 piece orchestra. It is the quintessential backstage musical. The show combines Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew" with Cole Porter's music and lyrics. A troupe of actors is putting on a musical version of Taming of the Shrew and each cast member's on-stage life is complicated by what is happening offstage in their real life with uproariously funny results that include gangsters, and quarreling lovers with Cole Porters amazingly beautiful and witty score. Musical numbers include So In Love Am I, Tom, Dick or Harry, Too Darn Hot, Brush Up Your Shakespeare, I Hate Men, Always True to You (In My Fashion) and Another Op'nin, Another Show. KISS ME, KATE is a fun, melodious and sophisticated comedy for all ages.

Warm-hearted, irreverent, and zany the play examines the plight of three young Mississippi sisters, Lenny – unmarried at thirty and facing diminishing prospects; Meg – who returns after a failed attempt at a singing career in Los Angeles; and Babe – out on bail after having shot her husband in the stomach. In the end the play is the story of how its young characters escape the past to seize the future.
