Dance Auditions

Dance Auditions

The three-hour audition consists of a technique class with both ballet and modern dance components, followed by performance of one to two minute solos. The one to two minute solo can be in the dance style of your choice as long as it has been choreographed by you. No special costume is necessary. If you use music it must be recorded on a CD. Each applicant will also have a brief interview with a faculty member.

Please come attired in dancewear that is form fitting. You should take the ballet segment in soft ballet shoes and the modern dance component in bare feet.

Students will complete the necessary paperwork upon arrival and need not bring a photo or resume. Visitors are not permitted to observe the audition, but may stay for informal conversation with the dance faculty following the audition.

All applicants are encouraged to audition in person, as this gives us the most complete assessment of a student¹s abilities and readiness to enter the program. If extenuating circumstances prevent an applicant from auditioning in person, videotaped auditions May be submitted through the link below:

Students under 18 need a parent or guardian to accompany them to the audition.
