Performing Arts Scholarships
The Department of Performing Arts awards two kinds of scholarships each year to entering students; performance scholarships and technical scholarships. All scholarship awards are based on ability, ensemble needs, and overall commitment to the ensemble.
Students must audition to be considered for scholarship assistance. Early application is strongly encouraged, as scholarship awards are limited. Students applying for a scholarship do not need to major in the performing arts; however participation in the associated ensemble is required. Awards usually start at $1,000 per year.
We invite you to audition for one of our scholarship awards. Most auditions are held during Accepted Students Days on April 12th and/or 13th, 2008. If you are unable to attend one of these audition dates, individual audition times can be arranged with each ensemble director. The cutoff date for scholarship auditions for the 2008-2009 academic year is April 30th, 2008.
General Scholarship Information
- Students need to be enrolled in the associated ensemble for the fall, winter, and spring terms.
- Scholarships are not automatically renewed. Students must re-audition each year.
- The student must be enrolled full time at Drexel (at least 12 credits per term).
- Directors choose scholarship recipients based on ability, ensemble needs, and overall commitment to the ensemble.

Theatre
Each year the theatre faculty awards a limited number of performance and technical scholarships to highly motivated and dedicated students working in the Theatre Program. Freshmen apply for a scholarship after the fall term production and the scholarship award is based on an evaluation of their work on the production and an interview with theater faculty. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of the level of commitment to the program and the student's willingness to undertake and develop leadership qualities that will enhance the overall Drexel Theatre Experience.
For more information on theater scholarship opportunities and the theater program at Drexel University please contact Bill Pollock, Theater Program Director at bill.pollock@drexel.edu or (215) 895-2529.
