Product Design

May 27, 2014

Four years ago, Drexel’s inaugural undergraduate Product Design class began a journey that would prepare them to become multidisciplinary designers and challenge them to bring meaningful ideas to life. The 2014 senior show of the first graduating Product Design class will open in the Leonard Pearlstein Galley in the URBN Center Annex (3401 Filbert St.), with a free and open-to-the-public reception on Friday, May 30 from 6 pm to 8 pm, and will be on exhibit through June 2.

The show features twelve senior projects that offer creative solutions to real-world problems, from eyeglasses that treat Seasonal Affective Disorder with mobile light therapy, to redesigned instruments for use in music therapy sessions to a smart inhaler that helps empower asthmatics through education and information tracking.

At Drexel University’s Research Day 2014, students Nnaemeke Offodile, Megan Peaslee and Osman Cueto received first place, third place and honorable mention, respectively, in the Creative Arts and Design Category for their senior projects.

The class launched a fundraising campaign to fund the materials, promotion, and catering costs of the show, and produced this video that provides an overview of the program and the scope of the exhibition. Click here [PDF] to view the brochure of the exhibition.
