Award-Winning Quilt Artist Victoria Findlay Wolfe (Feb. 28)

February 4, 2014 — Victoria Findlay WolfeVictoria Findlay Wolfe is a New York City-based award-winning quilt artist, author of15 Minutes of Play (C&T publishing), fabric & thread designer, founder of NYC MOD quilters, board member of the International Quilt Association and the Quilt Alliance and runs several community drives with BumbleBeansBASICS. She will be visiting us on Friday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. in the URBN Annex for a lecture and quilt trunk show, titled "15 Minutes of Play." The lecture explores how she got her start in quilting at a very young age and her progression as a quilt artist. Victoria will talk about the how and why of her craft, what inspired her work and how she found her "15 minutes" journey. 

This lecture is FREE for members of the Philadelphia Modern Quilt Guild and for all Drexel students, faculty and staff. All other attendees are $5 payable by cash or credit at the door. Victoria will sign copies of her book 15 Minutes of Play, which will be available for purchase in limited quantities at the event.

Born and raised on a farm in Minnesota, Findlay Wolfe credits her quilting influences to her grandmother's double knit crazy quilts that kept her warm, growing up. Her biggest supporters are her husband and daughter.

The Philadelphia Modern Quilt Guilt (or Philly MQG) is a chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild, which is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission to support and encourage the growth and development of modern quilting through art, education, and community. The Philly MQG holds monthly meetings and hosts workshops and lectures to educate members and the public about modern quilting. Several Philly MQG members are alumni of Drexel University, including Westphal Alumni Shelley Kardon and Elizabeth Timmons and Tricia Landes and Andrew Joslyn.
