On the Next DNEWS

December 4, 2014

Tune in on Friday, December 5 at 8:00pm to catch the next episode of DNEWS, our award-winning, student-produced monthly TV news magazine. The show airs on Comcast channels 54 and 62 and Fios channel 37. This episode is hosted by John LaRussa and edited by Ryan Savage, with host camera work by Alexa Carrol, all Film & Video students.

A story covering student reactions to the recent Ebola epidemic was produced and reported by Matt Yeandel and shot by Jeff Cindric, also Film & Video students. The piece features an interview with Dr. Esther Chernak from Drexel’s Center for Public Health and Readiness. From reporter/producer Cathy White, a Communications major in the College of Arts & Sciences, and shooter/editor Nick Bell, Film & Video, is a compilation of “man on the street” interviews on varying Thanksgiving traditions and best and worst holiday memories. Rachel Violi, Entertainment & Arts Management student served as producer/reporter, and Gloria Schultz, Film & Video, served as shooter/editor, for a story on the mental and emotional benefits of yoga for stress relief during finals.

John LaRussa (producer/reporter) and Jeff Cindric (shooter/editor) cover the “Before I Die” installation in West Philadelphia. Artist Candy Chang’s public art project has been installed in dozens of cities around the world and invites the public to finish the sentence “before I die…” by inscribing their thoughts on a large scale chalkboard. Chang will be at Drexel in the spring as part of the College of Arts & Science Distinguished Lecture series.
