DISEGNO = DESIGN: On Drawing in Architecture and Landscape Architecture

Laurie Olin is a distinguished teacher, author, and one of the most renowned landscape architects practicing today. As founder and partner of the OLIN studio, he has directed many significant projects including: the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden in Washington, DC, the Getty Center in Los Angeles, Bryant Park in New York City, the Simon and Helen Director Park in Portland, Oregon, and the recently completed Dilworth Park in Philadelphia. He was also written extensively on his own work and that of others.

Olin is currently Practice Professor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania, where he has taught for forty years. He is also the former chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture at Harvard University. The American Society of Landscape Architects Medal (the society’s highest award for a landscape architect) was given to Olin in 2011 in recognition of his achievements and contributions to the profession. In 2012, he was awarded the National Medal of Arts, the highest lifetime achievement award for artists and designers bestowed by the National Endowment for the Arts and the President of the United States.
