Making Indie Films

February 21, 2013

On Saturday, March 2nd Los Angeles-based film producer J. Todd Harris will conduct a one-day filmmaking seminar that will focus on developing and producing independent films. The seminar starts at 11 AM in the URBN Center Annex Large Screening Room (3401 Filbert St.) and a limited amount of free tickets are available to Westphal students. Interested students should contact Angie McCloskey in the Film & Video department at amm85@drexel.edu. Tickets are also available for purchase by clicking here

The college has partnered with the Greater Philadelphia Film Office to bring Todd's workshop Producing the Independent Film, which he has conducted in Los Angeles, Boston and New York, to Drexel's campus. Harris has produced more than 40 feature films including the Golden-Globe winning and Academy-award nominated The Kids are Alright that starred Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, and Mark Ruffalo.

The seminar offers a hands-on approach to managing all aspects of creating independent films, from budgeting and raising capital to selecting projects, production and marketing.
