The Cinema & Television department is finalizing a two-day workshop and public screening event with top independent film director Todd Haynes. We will welcome Haynes in the spring term to screen a film and visit classes in our film & video, television, and screenwriting programs. Haynes is an enormously successful director and screenwriter who achieved great success with Far From Heaven, which was nominated for four Oscars, including Haynes' nomination for best screenplay. Haynes’ other films include the unconventional Bob Dylan biography I’m Not There, Velvet Goldmine, Safe, and the HBO mini-series Mildred Pierce, which won Emmy and Golden Globe awards. Throughout Haynes' career he has worked with some of Hollywood’s most accomplished stars including: Julianne Moore, Dennis Quaid, Christian Bale, Ewan McGregor, Richard Gere, Heath Ledger, Cate Blanchett, and Kate Winslet.
