RJD2: Spin Master

Local Philadelphia musician, producer, DJ and label owner RJD2 will
breakdown his production process during a discussion on Wednesday,
January 19th at 6 PM. Sponsored by the Music Industry program, RJD2
will hold an open forum that will feature multi-track recordings of
select songs from his six released LPs along with material from his new
artist ‘The Insane Warrior,’ due out later this year. RJD2 will detail
his process by peeling back the layers of ideas and techniques he
incorporates into his songwriting, production and mixing. The event
will be in Stein Auditorium, 111 Nesbitt Hall (3215 Market St.).
RJD2 recently started his own label, RJ’s Electrical Connections, after
an accomplished tenure with Definitive Jux, created by El-P, originally
of Company Flow. The discussion will also focus on RJD2’s move from
Definitive Jux and his business strategy for creating his own label.
Well sought after by rappers such as Aceyalone, Copywrite and Vast
Aire, as well as award-winning TV shows like
Mad Men, RJD2 has emerged as one of electronica’s hottest producers. He has been featured in the
New York Times, ABC News, Billboard, Rolling Stone, and the
Philadelphia Weekly and continues to tour the world in support of the music he creates. This event is free and open to the public.
