Madko Concerts

November 15, 2010

Madko Concerts, the student-run concert promotion arm of the Music Industry Program, staged two electrifying concerts in Philadelphia. One concert took over The Balcony at the Trocadero with headliner Caithlin De Marrais supported by three local artists, Everyone Everywhere, Jet Set Sail and Bearings.

Then Madko moved to The Rotunda for a hip-hop concert featuring headliner Reef the Lost Cauze.  Reef is a battle-tested MC who won the End of the Weak Challenge Champion at the Rock Steady Crew 27th Anniversary. He independently released the LP "Feast or Famine" to critical praise and more recently released "A Vicious Cycle." The bill also features MAD Dragon recording artist Kuf Knotz, whose debut solo album "Boombox Logic" has just been released.  Kuf is the founder and front man of the Burndown Allstars and performed for several years with hip-hop ensemble The Hustle. Local artists Asaad and DJ Bruce rounded-out a night of outstanding hip-hop.

Professor Marcy Rauer Wagman had her song "I'm Not Your Man," performed by Tommy Conwell, featured in a trailer for a documentary about Philadelphia Pop music. Click here to watch the video.

Alumnus Noah Beresin aka Xaphoon Jones, was featured in an article on mtv.com about his involvement with the group Chiddy Bang, MTV PUSH Artist of the Week. Click here to read the article.

Student Lenny Skolnik did his co-op with two time Grammy nominated music producer and Drexel Alum, Howard Benson. Lenny will receive a credit on the new Saliva record on Island/Def Jam for his work with the producer. Saliva has previously released double platinum and gold albums.
