There have been several new faculty members and facility and equipment upgrades in the Photography program over the summer. All the computers have been upgraded to Adobe's Creative Suite 5 to match industry and educational standards. Program director Paul Runyon and head facility manager Mike Froio met with lighting experts and the entire facility is being equipped with color-correct and density-correct lighting to help in the preparation of work. Renovations to the facility have been proposed and the program is working with contractors to prepare a timeline for several upgrades.
The Photography program hired four new faculty members: Beth Hureta will teach Production for the Commercial Photographer and has arranged a veritable who’s who among the movers and shakers in the advertising photography world as guest speakers; Benjamin Riley, who will teach Digital Photography, has spent the past five years working with Tom Crane, moving Tom's strictly large format, film-based studio to a fully digital environment; and Amanda Stevenson who is the current President of the Association of Media Photographers (ASMP) in Philadelphia and operates a very successful advertising studio. Amanda will teach Advanced Studio. Kylie Wright is a master printer for elite clients, including Gregory Crewdson, Stephen Shore, Joel Sternfeld, Richard Misrach and Robert Polidori, working with both artists and their galleries and will teach Digital Photography II. Finally, the Photography program hired Elizabeth Timmons to be the assistant facility manager. She spent a majority of the summer working with a programmer to automate the equipment check-in procedure by reducing paperwork.
Finally two fall workshops will be taught by faculty featuring alumni that have gone on to successful careers, Joy Moody and Erin Patrice O'Brien. If you're interested in these, you can contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
