Save the Date: Charles Spencer

November 17, 2014

On January 22, the Rudman Institute will host a lecture and book signing event with Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer and brother of Diana, Princess of Wales. A print journalist, broadcaster and author, Charles Spencer’s book Killers of the King will be published in January 2015. An “accomplished, gruesome…and masterful account of the fate of the regicides” (Alison Weir), the book tells the shocking stories of the 59 men who signed Charles I of England’s death warrant in 1649, changing British history forever and echoing through the young British colonies that would form the United States. A direct descendant of King Charles I, Charles Spencer obtained his degree in modern history at Magdalen College, Oxford, and is the author of four books, including the Sunday Times bestseller Blenheim: Battle for Europe, which was shortlisted for the British National Book Awards History Book of the Year, and Prince Rupert: The Last Cavalier. Details of his visit to Drexel will follow in upcoming newsletters.
