DUTV Student Fest

November 28, 2011

We’ll showcase the impressive work of Westphal students during a five-day DUTV student fest broadcast throughout Metropolitan Philadelphia on Comcast and Fios.  The fest kicks off Monday, November 28th at 8 PM with the airing of the 2011 Fashion Show featuring the collections of our fashion students and shot on location at the Urban Outfitters Corporate Headquarters at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.  The fest closes Friday, December 2nd at 8 PM with the airing of all three episodes of OFF CAMPUS, our student produced sitcom that just recently aired on the CBS-owned CW Philly 57 and won an Outstanding Student Achievement award at this fall’s regional Emmy awards.

On Tuesday, November 29th, we’ll air the 2011 MAD Dragon concert. Produced by Music Industry students and filmed on location at the Mandell Theater, our 5th Annual MAD Dragon concert featured recording artists from the label’s roster, Toy Soldiers, Spinning Leaves and Hezekiah Jones, Kuf Knotz and guest artist Free Energy, a local indie powerhouse named by Rolling Stone magazine as a 2010 band to watch.

On Wednesday, November 30th, we’ll premiere a conversation with former NBC/Universal President Jeff Zucker.  Zucker was a guest of the Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies last month and he spoke about his career at NBC and the state of the television industry. On Thursday, December 1st, we’ll debut the Best of DNEWS, our monthly student produced news program on all things Philadelphia and Drexel. Highlights from the best of episode will include Julia Fisher’s report from the annual Philadelphia Tattoo Fest and her in-depth look at how Philabundance helps hungry families in the region during the holidays. Other stories are on Loren McFalls’ tour of Philadelphia's best Halloween adventures including a pumpkin carving contest and ghost tour, the retirement of Drexel Wrestling Coach Jack Childs after 44 years at Drexel, and the annual scarecrow competition at the Tyler Arboretum.

If you’re looking for award-winning and creative original student programming, be sure to tune in to DUTV during the DUTV student fest. For more information please visit www.dutv.org.
