The Destruction of Memory Screening & Q&A

Thursday, January 26, 2017

5:30 PM-7:30 PM

Westphal's Museum Leadership program will host a screening of The Destruction of Memory on Thursday, January 26th at 5:30 PM in the URBN Annex Screening Room (3401 Filbert Street). Join Director Tim Slade for the screening of this powerful film followed by a Q & A period. Over the past century, cultural destruction has wrought catastrophic results across the globe. In Syria and Iraq, the ‘cradle of civilization’, millennia of culture are being destroyed every day. The push to protect, salvage and rebuild has moved in step with the destruction. Legislation and policy have played a role, but heroic individuals have fought back, risking and losing their lives to protect not just other human beings, but our cultural identity - to save the record of who we are. Based on the book of the same name by Robert Bevan, The Destruction of Memory film tells the whole, timely story. The event is free and open to the public.
