Painting: Tenure Track Faculty

Posting Summary: The Art & Art History Department (formerly Art & Art History Department) of the Antoinette Westphal College of Media, Arts & Design, Drexel University, seeks outstanding candidates for a tenure track teaching position to start in the Fall of 2008. The new faculty member should also be prepared to contribute to the Department, College, and University with appropriate service on committees, etc. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience. Qualifications: Applicants must have an MFA and a minimum of five years teaching experience beyond the level of Graduate Teaching Assistant. Additional experience should include course development, painting area resource and facility oversight, and managing and mentoring of adjunct faculty. The successful candidate must demonstrate outstanding accomplishment as a teacher, possess a strong and ongoing record of exhibitions, and have articulate views on issues of contemporary art and art theory.

Responsibilities: The position is for a painter and the primary responsibilities include teaching introductory and intermediate levels of painting, as well as occasional courses in drawing and/or design.

Start Date: 09/01/2008

Application Procedures: Submit the following by mail: letter of interest, 20 images of your own work, 20 images of student work, an artist's statement, teaching philosophy, syllabi of courses taught, CV, and names of 3 references with email and phone numbers. Imagery may be slides or MAC-compatible media; PowerPoint documents must be accompanied by an independent file of jpeg images. We strongly recommend that applicants include a hardcopy index print of image thumbnails. Preference will be given to applications received by February 1, 2008. Interviews will be conducted at the CAA conference in Dallas.
