Fashion Design: Tenure Track Faculty

Posting Summary: Teaching position for Fashion Design Tenure track faculty. Previously tenured applicants will also be considered. This is a twelve-month appointment effective September 1, 2008. The Fashion Program is internationally recognized and has a current enrollment of 160 graduate and undergraduate students. Emphasis is placed on the integration of a Fine Arts foundation with the highest level of industry requirements as they relate to technical and conceptual skills. The program boasts an extraordinary record of achievements at national and international competitions. Undergraduate students have a mandatory 6-month co-op and are employed by top-level designers and manufacturers in the United States and abroad.

Qualifications: Masters degree, in Fashion Design or related field, 8 years professional practice and collegiate teaching experience OR Bachelors degree in Fashion Design, or related field, a minimum of 10 years experience as a practitioner and teacher

Responsibilities: Teach fashion design studio and lecture courses in area of expertise. Actively participate in collaborative efforts with other faculty in program development and support for ongoing events including competitions and fashion shows. Conduct scholarly investigation such as research, creative activity and professional practice. Provide vision and direction for the fashion program with respect to currency in the fashion world and the design world at large. Develop and maintain productive industry relationships that provide resources, critics, co-op opportunities and job placement. Serve on department, college and university committees.
