Entertainment & Arts, Tenure-Track Assistant Professor
POSITION: The Department of Performing Arts at Drexel University's Westphal College of Media Arts and Design seeks candidates for a tenure-track position as assistant professor for its bachelor of science in Entertainment &Arts Management (EAM). This is a cross-disciplinary program which prepares individuals for a variety of management roles in media, visual and performing arts fields, and gives those interested in the creative side of those fields an exposure to the management side. The college is seeking an individual for this position whose expertise is in visual and/or performing arts, with an emphasis on the non-profit cultural sector.
QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years of professional experience in arts management, including the non-profit cultural sector, and an advanced degree in business or arts administration is required. Teaching experience is preferred. Experience working with diverse groups is desirable.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will teach courses in many of the following subject areas: marketing/promotion for the arts, fund development and board relations, box office and venue management, touring/concert promotion, gallery management and exhibition design. Administrative responsibilities include student mentoring, development of internship and co-op opportunities, and coordination with Drexel's career services office, and service on college and university committees. Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to collaborate across disciplines and develop programming with community organizations.
