    The Department of Architecture + Interiors has launched the new minor Sustainability in the Built Environment. This 24-credit course of study will provide students with a broad overview and a rigorous conceptual tool kit to engage and grapple with the future challenges of the built environment. An emphasis on systems thinking and a collaborative approach to problem solving are central components of the minor. Both non-design and design students will be exposed to a versatile and transferable knowledge environment and learning skills that can effectively be translated to the professional sector.

    Drexel Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management, Joan McDonald, challenged Interior Design students to develop design concepts and ideas for the renovations for the Admissions Welcome Center in the Main Building. The student teams, under the direction of interior design faculty, designed solutions that had to meet the image goals and functional objectives of the new Admissions Welcome Center. The winning team's vision has now come to life with the help of Drexel Facilities.

    Eight student teams and interior design faculty participated in a four-week charrette held over recent consecutive weekends. The students presented their concepts on March 5th to the Admissions team comprised of Joan McDonald; assistant vice presidents Erin Finn, Casey Turner and David Chezem; director of recruitment Leslie Paulson; visit experience coordinator Maggie Miller; and University facilities representatives Gail Holmes and Jessica Rubin.

    This day-long event will feature technique classes, presentations, workshops and a performance, beginning at 10:00 AM with technique classes, and finishing at 8:00 PM with a performance of Furnishings.
    SCRAP Performance Group, led by founder and choreographer Myra Bazell, will present the first draft of their two-year project which focuses on the concept of inspiration.
