Lydia Hunn received an MFA degree from the University of Pennsylvania after completing her undergraduate work at the University of the Arts. A member of Bricolage theater collaborative for ten years, she has taught Performance (four-dimensional design) at Drexel University since 1979. For eight years an exhibiting member of Philadelphia's first artists-run gallery, Nexus/Foundation for Today's Art, she directed Drexel University's Design Arts Gallery from 1989 to 1999. Her work which ranges from books to sculpture, is in public collections in Washington, Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Alexandria (Egypt), Székesfehérvár (Hungary) and Baku (Azerbaijan). She received a fellowship grant from the Pennsylvania State Council on the Arts for sculpture and has had solo exhibitions or site-specific installations at more than 21 museums and galleries in the eastern United States.
She has been an artist in residence at the Fabric Workshop in Philadelphia, a juror for the Pennsylvania State Council on the Arts, a board member of the Philadelphia Art Alliance and the Print Center of Philadelphia and currently serves on the board of Friends of Wildcat. http://friendsofwildcat.org
She recently created a sound installation for the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences and a language-based installation for the CAFA Art Museum in Beijing, China.
