Myers is the Director of Economic & Business Equity in the Governor’s Office. She was appointed to Governor Kitzhaber’s Cabinet in early 2011 and serves as a senior policy advisor to the Governor on issues related to minority-owned, women-owned, emerging small/disadvantaged businesses. Her most important role is to create access to contracting opportunities for Oregon certified firms through internal collaboration with state agencies and external stakeholder outreach. She brings two decades of private sector experience as an Oregon business owner. A longstanding community advocate, Cheryl’s completing her 8th year as an elected school board director for Oregon’s fifth largest district, serves as a board advisor for the Center for Women, Politics & Policy and as an advisory board member to both the Asian Pacific American Chamber and Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon. She and her husband have two children and she enjoys sailboat racing, self-improvement books, fine food and traveling.
