Recognized globally as a business leader, author, executive coach and mentor, Butler was the first woman professional at a major accounting firm and the first woman partner at Andersen Consulting/Accenture. During her 30-plus-year career, she was at the forefront of dramatic changes in the corporate world. She served on Accenture's Executive Committee, which set the company's strategy, and as president of the Accenture Foundation. which provides education grants. She retired from Accenture in 2002 after serving as managing partner of Accenture's Office of the CEO.

Butler also is the founder and CEO of the Susan Bulkeley Butler Institute for the Development of Women Leaders (www.sbbinstitute.org), which is committed to developing, coaching and mentoring women and girls so they can make bold changes in their lives and in the world. She is the author of two books: Become the CEO of You, Inc. (2008) and WOMEN COUNT, A Guide to Changing the World (2010). She is a graduate of Purdue University, where she established the Butler Center for the Development of Women Leaders, served on Purdue's board of trustees and was awarded an honorary doctorate in management. She also serves on the worldwide board of directors for Junior Achievement, the board of trustees of LeaderShape, Inc., and is on several boards Purdue University, University of Arizona and the University of California, Berkeley.
