Vision 2020 Northwest Regional Conference

OR conference

The Vision 2020 Northwest Regional Conference on Nov. 14 was an exciting day of discussion and debate highlighted by appearances of several northwestern notables.

Former Governors Christine Gregoire (WA) and Barbara Roberts (OR) were joined on the program by many articulate women of power and influence including Cindy Parlow Cone, two-time Olympic Gold medalist and now head coach of the Portland Thorns of the National Women’s Soccer League.

The conference was led by Vision 2020 Oregon and Washington Delegates Gale Castillo, Cheryl Myers, Susan Astley, Samantha Smithingell and Barbara Ramirez Spencer.

Those in attendance were able to gather information about the power and influence of Title IX in athletics and education; strategies of support for women running for public and political office; and the power of mentorship and sponsorship to help women advance to leadership positions in the workplace.

Attendees were also able to engage in live-tweeting of conference activities by using the Vision 2020 hashtag #equalityinsight.
