While the Fourth of July may mark the birth of our nation, September 17, the date of the signing of the U.S. Constitution that occurred right here in Philadelphia, is the birthday of our government.

The ideals on which America was founded—commitments to the rule of law, limited government and the ideals of liberty, equality and justice—are embodied in the U.S. Constitution, which is the oldest written constitution still currently in use.

In honor of Constitution Day, Drexel University students, faculty and professional staff are encouraged to learn more about this important historic document which provides the nation's basic laws within its preamble, seven articles and 27 amendments.
