Drexel
University is home to
three renowned art galleries,
a theater and several buildings designed by award-winning architects.

The
Anthony J. Drexel Picture Gallery,
located on the third floor of the Main Building, was established
in 1892 by founder Anthony J. Drexel, a collector of diverse
works of art. After Mr. Drexel’s death, family,
friends and alumni continued to donate paintings, prints,
drawings and textiles to The Drexel Collection, which
also includes porcelains, archeological artifacts and
a rare tall-case clock created by David Rittenhouse in
the 18th century. The Gallery is open to visitors Monday
through Friday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. or by appointment.
For more information, call 215-895-0480.
The
Leonard Pearlstein Gallery, located in Nesbitt
Hall, was designed by Drexel adjunct professors Neil Sandvold
and Andy Blanda, principal architects for Sandvold Blanda
Architecture + Interiors. The seamed aluminum and slate
structure faces Lancaster
Walk and the 33rd Street Armory. The Pearlstein Gallery
is named in honor of former trustee Leonard Pearlstein.
Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday,
and by appointment. For more information on the gallery
and its exhibitions, call 215-895-2548.
