Advisory Regarding Services for Drexel Students Affected by Hurrican Katrina

Admission:
The University will offer provisional admission to undergraduate and graduate students from the Philadelphia and Gulf Coast regions whose colleges have been closed due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina. Drexel's undergraduate and graduate enrollment offices have
streamlined application procedures to facilitate enrollment of these students by the term start of September 27.

We anticipate that the enrollment of these students at Drexel will be temporary for a period of up to one year before they return to their home institutions on the Gulf Coast. Admission application and matriculation deadlines and fees have been waived for these students.

Financial Aid:
We have established an emergency tuition fund with grants available up to $10,000 to assist students enrolled full-time who are from the Philadelphia or Gulf Coast regions. These grants are for a period of one year as we anticipate that these students will return to their home institutions either at the end of the fall term or at the conclusion of this academic year.

These funds are available thanks to the generosity of Drexel alumni and friends who have responded to a special fundraising appeal to assist with the educational needs of displaced students.

Housing:
Although we are unable to offer campus housing to affected students, we encourage these students to contact the Off-Campus Housing Office in our Division of Student Life to learn about resources and options available in the Philadelphia region.

Counseling:
Counseling Center staff is available to provide counseling services to students from flood affected areas who will be attending Drexel University this year.
