Dr. Murugan Anandarajan
assistant professor, Management, published a paper, "Modeling the Auditor`s Financial Distress Decision: A Comparison of ANN, ID3 and MDA Models," in The International Review of Accounting. He also received the best paper award for his work, "Linking IT Applications with Manufacturing Strategy: An Intelligent Decision Support System Approach," at the Northeast Decision Sciences Conference, Rhode Island.

Dr. Orakwue B. Arinze
professor, Management, and Dr. Murugan Anandarajan, assistant professor, Management Information Systems, published a paper, "Matching Client/Server Processing Architectures with Information Processing Requirements: A Contingency Study," in Information and Management.

Dr. Michael Atwood
professor, Information Science and Technology, participated in the Association for Computing Machinery`s SIG Governing Board meeting, San Francisco. Atwood is chair of the Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction.

Dr. Avijit Banerjee
professor, Decision Sciences, presented two papers at the 10th International Symposium on Inventories, Budapest, Hungary. He was also selected to the executive committee of the International Society for Inventory Research.

Anthony Bracali
Architecture student, won second place in a "Best and Brightest" student architectural competition sponsored by Philadelphia`s Vitetta Group.

Marianne Connor
instructor, Film and Video, received a grant from the William Penn Foundation to complete a video guide of Philadelphia`s historic neighborhoods.

Dr. Thomas Hewett
professor, Psychology, co-authored an article, "Psychological Science and Analogical Reminding in the Design of Artifacts," in Behavior Research Methods, Instruments and Computers. He has also been awarded a visiting fellowship funded by the British Government`s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.

Dr. Surya Kalidindi
associate professor, Materials Engineering, presented a paper, "Deformation Twinning in FCC Polysrystalline Metals," at the 1999 TMS annual meeting, San Diego, CA. Co-authors were Dr. Roger D. Doherty, professor, Materials Engineering, and Dr. Ehab El-Danaf, research post-doctorate associate, Materials Engineering. She also presented an invited lecture, "Incorporation of Deformation in Modeling Texture Evolution in FCC Plycrystals," at Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, NM.

Dr. Frank Ko
professor, Materials Engineering, and director, Fibrous Materials Research Center, made a presentation, "Advanced Textile Composites," to the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Unviersity of Maryland-Baltimore. He was also among a select group of experts invited by the U.S. Army to participate in a workshop, "Nanocomposites for Soldier Ballistic Protection," at the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Center.

Yvonne Leach
associate professor, Media Arts, delivered a presentation on Meryl Streep for the 1999 Philadelphia Weekend Film Festival, where Streep was an honored guest.

Dr. Fariborz Y. Partovi
associate professor, Decision Sciences, had an article, "Integrating the Analytic Hierarchy Process and Graph Theory to Model Facilities Layout," published in the December issue of Annals of Operations Research.

Dr. Nunzio Pernicone
associate professor, History and Politics, has appeared in several TV and radio documentaries devoted to the Sacco-Vanzetti case: Court TV`s "The Greatest Trials of All Time," the History Channel`s "In Search of History" and National Public Radio`s "The Past Present." He also served as historical adviser to The People & Light Theatre Co.`s "Sacco and Vanzetti: A Vaudeville in Two Acts," Malvern, PA.

Dr. Stanley Segall
professor, Nutrition and Food Sciences, presented an invited paper, "Comparing Coffee and Tea," at the spring national meeting of the American Chemical Society, Division of Agricultural and Food Chemistry: Symposium on the Chemistry and Health Benefits of Caffeinated Beverages, Anaheim, CA.

Dr. Horacio Sosa
associate professor, Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics, has been appointed to the editorial boards of two international journals: Journal of Thermal Stresses and Revista Engenharia - A Journal of Engineering Sciences.

Dr. Marilyn M. Tremaine
Information Science and Technology, participated in an Association for Library and Information Science Education presentation, "The Battle Between the Computer and the Book: Cross Disciplines at Cross Purposes in Library Schools," in Philadelphia. She also participated in two presentations at the Center for Aids to Industrial Productivity, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ.
