Dr. Ronald Bishop
assistant professor, Humanities and Communications, will have a paper, "More Than Meets the Eye: An Exploration of Research in the Connection Between Body Image and the Mass Media," published in Communication Yearbook 23, an annual compendium of communication research.

Dr. Richard Coren
professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering, led a symposium, "Modeling Evolution," at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Dr. F. Elaine De Lancey
associate professor, Humanities and Communications, was keynote speaker at the Second World Indigenous Pathways Conference and spoke at a memorial ceremony for Stokely Carmichael at the University of Southern Queensland, Australia.

Dr. Michael Gealt
Environmental Science and Engineering Policy, was appointed to the advisory committee for the GWU/EPA Cooperative Agreement for Advancement in Risk Assessment for Water Quality.

Dr. Thomas Hewett
professor, Psychology, and Dr. Marilyn Mantei, professor, Information Science and Technology, participated in a panel session, "Famous HCI Educators Tell All," at the Association for Computing Machinery`s Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems. Hewett was also an invited participant in a working group meeting to develop the curriculum for Fachhochschule Geoinformation, Austria.

Dr. Stephen Jones
director of the SUCCESS program, will receive Golden Torch Award for Minority Engineering Program Director from the Society of Black Engineers.

Dr. Richard Knight
director, Center for the Plasma Processing of Materials (CPPM), Materials Engineering, co-taught a course, "Thermal Spray Technology," at ASM International`s "Materials Solutions `98" Conference, Rosemont, IL. He also presented a paper, "Corrosion Behavior of High-Velocity Oxy-Fuel Thermally Sprayed Ti3SiC2 Coatings," co-authored by Dr. Michel Barsoum, professor, Materials Engineering, and graduate student John Travaglini. Knight also announces that Drexel has been welcomed as a research associate member of the International Thermal Spray Association based on the work of the CPPM.

Dr. Gordian A. Ndubizu
professor, Accounting, published a paper, "The Impact of SFHS No. 14 Segment Information on Price Variability and Earnings Forecast Accuracy," in the October issue of Journal of Business Finance and Accounting.

Stuart Rome
associate professor, Media Arts, received a Pennsylvania Council of the Arts Award. He was also a a visiting artist at the Manchester Craftmen`s Guild in Pittsburgh, a visiting lecturer at the San Francisco Art Institute and will speak at the Society for Photographic Education`s national conference.

Dr. Sidney R. Siegel
professor, Management, will present "The Potential Impact of a Growing Contingent Labor Force on MBA Enrollments in Business Schools," co-authored with graduate assistant Rajiv R. Lajmi, at the American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences meeting in February.

Dr. Il-Yeol Song
professor, Information Science and Technology, made a presentation, "Data Warehouse Design: Issues and Techniques," at the IBM Center for Advanced Studies Conference, Toronto.

Dr. Andrew Verzilli
Professor Emeritus, business, made a presentation, "The Big Bad Depression of 1929, Can it Happen Again? Look Out!" at the East Coast United States Bowling Centers Convention.

Brian L. Wagner
associate professor, Media Arts, is exhibiting work in the Philadelphia Sketch Club`s 136th Annual Exhibition at 235 South Camac Street.
