Dr. V.P. Franklin professor, History, published a book, Martin Luther King, Jr.: A Biography, (Park Lane Press) in association with the Arts and Entertainment Network`s Biography series. Dr. Jeffrey H. Greenhaus William A. Mackie Professor of Management, and Dr. Saroj Parasuraman, University Distinguished Professor, were named coordinators of the Doctoral Student Consortium for the Gender and Diversity Division of the Academy of Management to be held at the Academy`s annual meeting in Chicago. Dr. Frank K. Ko professor, Materials Engineering, and director, Fibrous Materials Research Center, was appointed to a one-year term as an advisory panel member to the "Study on Strategies to Protect the Health of Deployed U.S. Forces on Physical Protection and Decontamination" by the National Research Council. Dr. Alan Lawley Grosvenor Professor of Materials Engineering, presented a review of current research activities in powder metallurgy and particulate materials to the Technical Board of the Metal Powder Industries Federation, Orlando, FL. Dr. Michele Marcolongo materials engineering, organized the "Tissue Engineering Symposium" and made a presentation, "Osteoblast Attachment to Biomaterials Surfaces as a Function of Surface Charge," at a meeting of the Material Research Society, Boston. Dr. Scott Overmyer associate professor, information science and technology, presented his work on the SAVI project to the Workshop on Intelligent Pedagogical Agents at the Conference on Intelligent Tutoring Systems, San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Fariborz Y. Partovi associate professor, Management, will publish a paper, "A Quality Function Deployment Approach to Task Organization in Peacekeeping Force Design," in the 1999 issue of Socio-Economic Planning Sciences. Dr. Michael Rogich research professor, Information Science and Technology, and Dr. Richard Lytle, Isaac L. Auerbuch Professor, Information Science and Technology, made a presentation, "Asynchronous Training for Information Systems Professionals," at the Sloan Asynchronous Learning Conference, New York City. Vincent Roth senior in Hotel and Restaurant Management, received the Student of the Year award and a $1,000 scholarship from the Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association. John Smith Hotel and Restaurant Management, moderated a panel on hospitality careers during the International Hotel and Restaurant Management Convention, New York. Dr. Marilyn Tremaine professor, Information Science and Technology, was one of six investigators awarded an NSF Knowledge and Design Initiative grant proposal, "Multimodal Collaboration Across Wired and Wireless Platforms." Dr. George Tsetsekos vice provost and vice president for academic administration, made a presentation, "The Sequence of Contract Introduction in Emerging Derivatives Exchanges," to the Southern Finance Association. Dr. Orien Tulp professor, Bioscience and Biotechnology, chaired the symposium on nutrition and exercise physiology at the Meeting of Experimental Biology `98, San Francisco, and presented three co-authored papers. Dr. Dongjun Wu assistant professor, Management, presented an SAP Award Report, "Restructuring Drexel`s MIS Curricula," at the Los Angeles SAPPHIRE `98 conference. Dr. Wu`s Ph.D. dissertation was nominated as best dissertation of 1997 in the Elwood S. Buffa Decision Sciences Institute Doctoral Dissertation Competition. Dr. Robert Zaller professor, History, published an article, "Breaking the Vessels: The Desacralization of Monarchy in Early Modern England," in The Sixteenth Century Journal.
