Narducci was chosen for his contributions to the field of quantum fluctuations and quantum noise, particularly the quantum regression theorem applied to problems in modern quantum optics. Although he is unable to attend, Narducci and the two other winners of the award will be honored at the 29th Physics of Quantum Electronics Winter Colloquium on January 3.

A reception for Narducci in Philadelphia is planned for March.

Narducci, a Drexel professor since 1976, has received the Einstein Prize for Laser Optics, the Drexel Research Award and Drexel`s Lindback Award for distinguished teaching. A Fellow of both The American Physical Society and the Optical Society of America, he has served as editor of Optics Communications since 1987.
