IST Rededicates Alumni Garden at Rush Building
The renovated garden includes a fountain with "Volume 1" at its front

The College of Information Science and Technology celebrated completion of the renovation of the Rush Building’s Alumni Garden with a reception and ribbon cutting on September 27. Among those who participated in the ceremony were President Papadakis, Provost Stephen W. Director, IST Dean David E. Fenske and IST Alumni Association (ISTA) President Gary Kaplan, M.S. ’05.

The College has been housed in the Rush Building since 1965. The Garden was first dedicated in November, 1981. The renovated Garden includes a water fountain, tables and chairs with built-in power outlets, new bike racks donated by ISTA and a covered patio with balconies overlooking the courtyard. Wireless networking will be available in the Garden. “Volume 1,” the Garden’s sculpture created by Harold Kimmelman that was commissioned in memory of alumna Doris Zimmerman, M.S. ’70 and installed in the Garden in 1986, has been relocated to the front of the new fountain.
