President Papadakis Honored by Penn Club

President Papadakis receives the William Penn bust from Penn Club President Matthew D. Dupee of Philadelphia.

The Penn Club of Philadelphia recently honored President Papadakis for his 10 years of contributing to the advancement of Drexel and to Philadelphia’s cultural and business communities and for his professional and academic achievements. The award was presented at a dinner and reception at the Philadelphia Club.

In accordance with the Club’s tradition, President Papadakis presented a lecture, “The Contributions of Greeks to Medicine,” at the dinner. Following the lecture he was presented with a replica of a bronze bust of William Penn.

Founded in 1876 in honor of William Penn, the Penn Club of Philadelphia is a group of citizens devoted to the general welfare of Philadelphia and interested in its cultural development. Among those who have received the Club’s William Penn Award are U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant; John Philip Sousa; Walt Whitman and Lord Louis Mount Batten.
