Technology Commercialization Participates in BIO 2005

Among those who attended BIO 2005 were Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell, Hon. ’96, shown with Janette Hawkins, office manager, and Doug Adams, director, of Drexel’s Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization Office.

Drexel’s Technology Commercialization Office participated in BIO 2005, the Biotechnology Industrial Organization’s annual international convention, held in Philadelphia June 19-22, 2005.

BIO is the largest international organization seeking to promote the scientific breakthroughs and commercial applications of biotechnology for use in medicine, diagnosing disease and industrial manufacturing. More than 18,000 attendees from 50 states and more than 60 countries participated in this year’s convention. Drexel’s Technology Commercialization Office took part in the convention to introduce the University’s technologies to biotech executives, investors and journalists. Drexel was a part of the Technology Transfer Offices of Philadelphia exhibit that featured the technologies and partnering opportunities of six Philadelphia universities and research institutes: Drexel, The Joseph Stokes Jr. Research Institute of The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Temple University, Thomas Jefferson University, The University of Pennsylvania and The Wistar Institute.
