IWHL to Hold 2004 Research Advancement Day — April 22

The Institute for Women’s Health and Leadership (IWHL) will hold its Research Advancement Day, “Joining Forces: A Drexel Summit to Advance Sex and Gender Research,” on April 22 from 1-5 p.m. at Philadelphia’s Doubletree Hotel, 237 South Broad Street.

The goal of the event is to build bridges among members of the Drexel community working in sex and gender research, according to IWHL Director Lynn Yeakel. “Given our legacy and current strengths, Drexel is positioned to become a leader in this field. It’s time to start making this happen and this year’s Research Advancement Day can play a key role in this effort.”

Dr. Bill Stephenson, Drexel’s senior vice provost for research, will start the day’s events with a survey of what’s going on at the University in sex and gender research. Phyllis Greenberger, president of the National Society for Women’s Health Research, will speak about external opportunities and funding priorities in this area. Participants will gather in “mini think tanks” to develop a set of priorities for moving forward.

Those conducting sex and gender research at Drexel or those interested in the field are invited to attend the IWHL Research Advancement Day. For more information, call 215-842-7041 or e-mail iwhl@drexel.edu.
