Taking Drexel Science to Local High Schools
Drexel Science in Motion visited West Philadelphia High School

Drexel Science in Motion (SIM), an outreach program operated by Director Dr. Sally Solomon and Co-Director Dr. Susan Rutkowsky from the Department of Chemistry, is an innovative basic education/higher education partnership funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that provides equipment and materials for high school chemistry classes. The program delivers modern scientific instrumentation to schools and provides support to local teachers in an effort to “level the playing field” between well-funded and poorly-funded school districts.

Established in 2002, SIM’s educators visit local high schools to help students with chemistry experiments and science projects. The program was re-funded by the state for the current academic year. For more information on the program, visit www.philasim.org.
