2004 IWHL Woman One Award Winner Announced
Leslie Anne Miller, general counsel to Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell, will receive the Institute for Women’s Health and Leadership’s (IWHL) 2004 Woman One Award, which will be presented at a ceremony on April 22 at 5 p.m. at Philadelphia’s Doubletree Hotel. The announcement was made by IWHL Director Lynn Yeakel.
The annual award is given to a woman who inspires women of all ages to reach for the highest standards of health, leadership and service to others. Miller, a former Drexel University College of Medicine board member, was the first woman president of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. In her current position, she directs a staff of 450 attorneys. A breast cancer survivor, she is also a vice-chair of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and president of the Pennsylvania Women’s Forum.
Proceeds from the Woman One event will benefit Legacy 21, which provides funding for women’s health research and scholarships for the College of Medicine. The award ceremony coincides with the IWHL’s Research Advancement Day, which will also be held on April 22 at the Doubletree, from 1:45-4:30 p.m. For information on the events, call 215-842-7041 or e-mail email@example.com.
