10th Exodus to Excellence Summer Program at Drexel
Approximately 50 local students in grades eight through 11 took math, communications and computer foundations classes at Drexel in July as part of the 10th Exodus to Excellence Summer Program. The program is an outreach partnership between Drexel and the White Rock Baptist Church, located at 53rd and Chestnut streets.
While on campus, students were able to access the Hagerty Library for research projects and use the Daskalakis Athletic Center and Creese Student Union Complex for social and physical activities.
Dr. Ewaugh Finney Fields, professor of mathematics and dean emerita, is the programís campus director. About 20 percent of the students in the program choose to attend Drexel for their undergraduate degrees. The top mathematics students who later enroll at the University receive some scholarship support.
