Dr. Julie Mostov Honored by Womens Way

Dr. Julie Mostov, associate professor of political science and director of Drexel’s Institute for the Humanities, will receive a Womens Way Local Honoree Award at the organization’s 26th Annual Event, “The Many Faces of Womens Way,” at the Wyndham Philadelphia at Franklin Plaza on May 1.

Mostov is being recognized for her commitment to women’s issues through community and international involvement and leadership. She is active in Women Against Abuse and helped found and directed Drexel’s Women’s Studies Program.

Since 1976, she has promoted exchanges within the Balkans among women from different regions and of diverse ethnicities. In June, Mostov will lead the third Women’s Leadership program, funded by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), for women between the ages of 20-45 from the Balkans who are working to improve their communities. Mostov also directs Community Connections in the Republic of Moldova, which is funded through ECA. She is currently leading the International Organization for Migration pilot program to prevent human trafficking in Moldova.
