In Memoriam
Benjamin Calesnick: 1915-2002

Dr. Benjamin Calesnick, emeritus professor of pharmacology at Hahnemann University, died on November 7. He was 87.

Dr. Calesnick, a 1944 Hahnemann graduate, was a member of the University’s department of pharmacology for more than 50 years. He had a community practice in Springfield, Delaware County, with his wife, Dr. Sophie Brenner, a 1945 WMC graduate and MCP faculty member from 1962-78. A founding member of the American Board of Clinical Pharmacology and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Dr. Calesnick conducted important research on the development of antidotes for toxic war gasses, including Saran.

Dr. Calesnick is survived by his wife, son Jay (Hahnemann ’77), three grandchildren and two brothers.
